The Gujarat High Court on Friday ordered a CID probe into the custodial death of a Patel youth detained from Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad on August 25.

The youth was picked up following clashes with the police in connection with the Patidar Maha rally on the reservation issue.

According to post-mortem reports, the youth, Shwetang Patel's death took place due to a head injury.

The court also ordered Bapunagar police station to record an FIR into the custodial killing of the youth.

Curfews, which were imposed after the agitation by the Patel community seeking reservation under OBC quota turned violent, were lifted earlier today, from three out of nine Police station areas.
