South African swashbuckling batsman JP Duminy has admitted he would be fit to play in the upcoming cricket World Cup, which will be jointly held by Australia and New Zealand.

Duminy, who missed the recent Test series against the West Indies due to a knee injury, said that the injury was going well and the fitness was coming on nicely, adding that the plan was to definitely be part of the upcoming one-day series against West Indies, Sport24 reported.

Duminy further said that he would have to break something drastically for not playing in the World Cup and thus he was definitely looking forward to play for the coveted trophy.

The all-rounder's absence was evident in South Africa's last ODI series, which ended in a 4-1 loss to host Australia.

The ICC's pinnacle tournament is scheduled to be jointly held by Australia and New Zealand from February 14.
