In a landmark judgment, Justice R.M. Lodha-led committee appointed by the Supreme Court to decide the fate of the IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday suspended both teams for two years from the league.

The committee proposed to impose sanctions on India Cement's franchise by suspending it from the league for two years.

"No action was taken by India Cements against Mr. Meiyappan," Justice Lodha said.

"The committee proposes to impose sanction on India Cements franchise under Section 6 rule 4.2 C of the operational rules by suspending it from the league for a period of two years. The period of suspension shall commence from the date of this order," he added.

Justice Lodha further said the Jaipur IPL team can't shrink responsibility by saying that Kundra acted in personal capacity.

"The committee imposes sanction on Jaipur IPL franchise under Section 6 rule 4.2C of the operational rules by suspending it from the league for a period of two years. The period of suspension shall commence from the date of this order," he added.

The sixth edition of IPL was caught in a controversy after the police launched legal proceedings against several officials and cricketers, including former Test fast bowler S. Sreesanth, for illegal betting and spot-fixing.
