Josh Trank has quit the director's chair for upcoming 'Star Wars' franchise flick.
The 'Fantastic Four' helmer said though he had an incredible year developing the project with talented people at Lucasfilm, it was his personal decision to "move forward on a different path," Deadline.com reported.
He added that he had come to this decision after thinking through and even though the Star Wars universe had been one of his biggest influences, he wanted to pursue some original creative opportunities.
The filmmaker, who also missed Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim due to poor health, thanked everyone at Lucasfilm and Disney for the opportunity, saying "May the Force be with you all."
The untitled 2nd Star Wars Anthology movie is set to be released in 2018.
