Jury still out over 'injury-prone' Harris' participation in T20 tourney in India

Big Bash League (BBL) side Brisbane Heat is reportedly mulling over whether or not to include veteran Australian fast bowler Ryan Harris for the upcoming six-million dollar Champions League Twenty20 tournament and pit him up against the world's leading Twenty20 sides in India.

According to News.com.au, Heat is hopeful of getting approval from Cricket Australia (CA) to take Harris abroad despite a hamstring niggle as he is suddenly Australia's most precious fast bowling asset with his Man-of-the-Series performance in England with 24 wickets at 19 in four Ashes Tests.

Expressing their wish to have Harris in their team for the tournament, new Heat coach Stuart Law however, said that CA would have greater priorities given that they do not yet know the extent of Harris' injuries, adding that the player can probably be rested as he has been working tirelessly in the series.

According to Law, the Australian selectors will be keeping a close eye on Harris, who has played four Tests in a row for the first time in his career, because they will want him for the return Ashes series in Australia

However, Law said that Harris is the sort of a player who would love to be playing even though he deserves a break, adding that they will discuss this issue with Harris when he returns from the England tour.

The Champions League, which has a first prize of 2.5 million dollars, is a huge focus for the Heat with the major windfall it could provide to the players and Queensland Cricket who share the spoils, the report added.
