Jammu and Kashmir MLA Engineer Rashid , it seems has gained more public support following Monday's ink assault by Hindu Sena activists at the Press Club of India here.
The assault on the Awami Ittehad Party leader prominently featured in various newspapers of Kashmir and Pakistan today. Rashid represents the Langate constituency in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
Political leaders and newspapers in Kashmir extended their support to Engineer Rashid. He was compared to an innocent Kashmiri teenager, who was brutally lynched by a mob in Udhampur.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, his predecessor Omar Abdullah and other leaders condemned the attack on Rashid.
Social media was also full of angry reactions.
Among several posts on social media, one of the posts said: "The violent mob did not only attack Engineer Rashid, but also threw ink on the family of the victims of the Udhampur attack."
The incident featured prominently in Pakistani newspapers as well.
A protestor in Kashmir said the hate campaign of groups like the Hindu Sena projected instability in the country and the government's inability to maintain peace.
