English professional boxer Kell Brook recorded a fourth-round victory over Romanian-born Jo Jo Dan in Sheffield to successfully defend his IBF world welterweight title.
Fighting for the first time since being stabbed in the leg while on holiday in Tenerife, the unbeaten boxer dominated in his home town, flooring Dan four times before the Romanian failed to come out for the fifth round.
Brook said that he didn't think he would walk again, never mind box again, adding that now he is there defending his title, the BBC reported.
The welterweight star said that he has come from a council estate, and now he is world champion. He added that he has come from the bottom and is at the top.
Dan had never been stopped in his previous 36 professional fights, but was sent to the canvas twice in the second round and twice more in the fourth before he was pulled out of the fight by his corner.
Brook, who has a perfect record of 34 wins from 34 bouts, was making the first defence of his world title since beating American Shawn Porter on points in California last August.
However, Brook's career looked to be over two weeks later when he was stabbed in the leg with a machete in what he termed as an unprovoked attack.
Brook said that it was amazing to be able to walk to the ring again and this is where he belong, adding that it was hard to hold it together. He admitted that he didn't think he would box again, and insisted that he can't put into words what it means to defend his title.
