Bombay High Court on Wednesday set aside state government order of 2015 granting pre-mature release of 11 convicts in the Lakhan Bhaiya fake encounter case of 2006.
This comes two years after Sessions Court's verdict of life imprisonment to 21 (including 13 policemen) and acquitted encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma in the case.
Mumbai sessions court in 2013 had awarded life sentences to 21 people who were convicted for killing Ramnarayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiya in the fake encounter in November 2006.
In December 2015, the state had suspended the conviction for a period of six months to allow the officers to pursue their appeals.
