Man U, Arsenal fans unite on social media to vote 'misfiring' Balotelli Liverpool's player of the year

Manchester United and Arsenal fans have taken their rivalry against Liverpool to another level, as they have come together to vote Mario Balotelli as the player of the year for the Anfield outfit.

Balotelli moved to Anfield in the summer in a 16 million pound move but the striker has only scored four times since. And the United and Arsenal fans have not let the chance slip out of their hands to point that out in a sarcastic way.

With social media having brought in a new edge to football rivalries, it is no longer verbal assaults on match-day the fans look forward to. Facebook, Twitter and other social sites have become the fans' playground for football 'banter' on a regular basis, The Mirror reported.

And the fans of United and Arsenal are using this new, unique way to get at Liverpool, one of their long-term rivals.

They are lambasting each other with comments and tweets and they are also continuously posting that photo of Steven Gerrard slipping over. But this time they have come together and have been voting for Balotelli as Liverpool's player of the season in the open polls on the Reds' website.

Balotelli is considered by many as Liverpool's most disappointing player of the season, but now he might just be in line to win the fans' award in a controversial invasion of supporter opinion.

And these fans are so passionate about making Balotelli the player of the season that they have created multiple accounts to continually vote for the Italian. A Twitter user posted that one does know that a user can do this multiple times by using fake emails, adding that he had done it 20 times so far.
