Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind's late goal helped his side save a point against West Bromwich Albion but could not help end his side's winless run away from home under manager Louis van Gaal.

West Brom winger Stephane Sessegnon fired a stunning opener early in the game to provide his side with the lead, but half-time substitute Marouane Fellaini levelled for United within minutes of coming on.

West Brom striker Saido Berahino restored the home advantage with a curled finish in the 66th minute, but United rallied, with Robin van Persie striking the post before Blind extended their unbeaten run to three just three minutes before full-time, The BBC reported.

Blind's curled effort from 20 yards was only the fourth club goal of his career.

The point means United has one more after eight games than they did last season in a campaign, which saw David Moyes sacked as manager for underachieving.

It would come as a relief to new boss Van Gaal, who this week called his previous request to be judged after three months in the role stupid, as United continue to adapt to his philosophy.

The Dutchman, who has won seven league titles with European clubs, left his summer striking recruit Radamel Falcao on the bench in the West Midlands.

Despite their resilience to level, United have now gone six league games without a win on the road, a run not seen since the 1996-97 season, when they eventually finished champions, the report added.
