A maiden Test century from Khurram Manzoor allowed Pakistan to seize control of the first Test against South Africa in Abu Dhabi as they closed on 263/3 on Day 2 in reply to their opponents' 249 all out.

According to SportingLife.com, Manzoor and debutant Shan Masood (75) shared their country's first century opening stand since January 2012 as they piled on 135 either side of lunch.

Mansoor's departure saw Pakistan suffer a minor stumble as they slipped from 135 without loss to 178 for three but he remained steadfast and with Misbah-ul-Haq added a further 85 up to stumps, the report said.

Earlier the second ball of the day accounted for Hashim Amla, who was caught in the slips off Mohammad Irfan without adding to his overnight 118 and Dale Steyn (15) was stumped off Saeed Ajmal soon after, the report added.

Irfan finished with three for 44 and Ajmal three for 89, according to the report.
