Rory Mcllroy justified his status as the best golfer in the world by putting up a record breaking performance to win the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The world number one fired five birdies in a three-under par 69, following up his stunning course-record 61 on Saturday to finish with a 21-under par total of 267.
Webb Simpson and Patrick Rodgers, who were seven strokes behind Mcllroy, shared the second spot with a total of 274.
Jubilant after winning the championship, Mcllroy said that the golf course set up perfectly for him, adding that he felt to have scored six birdies, thus leaving no chance for others to catch him, the BBC reported.
With this performance, Mcllroy, who scored a career best of 61 last week at the Quail Hallow, secured his 11th PGA tour victory.
