Michael Phelps has revealed that he was 'in a really dark place' and didn't want to live anymore after his Driving under the Influence (DUI) arrest in 2014.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Phelps' coach Bob Bowman said, "Honestly, I thought, the way he (Michael Phelps) was going, he was going to kill himself."

Bowman said Michael did not want to take his own life, but do something like the DUI, but worse, TMZ reports.

After the DUI incident, Phelps spent 45 days in rehab in Arizona and believed that he was a changed person.

The Olympic gold medalist said that he would not even have a sip of booze, adding that he was leaner than he had ever been before.
