The Ministry of Heavy Industries on Friday moved the Supreme Court against the order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on diesel vehicle ban issue.
The ministry also sought modification of the NGT order that directed transport departments in the National Capital Region (NCR) to deregister and impound diesel vehicles older
than 10 years.
Earlier in July last year, the ministry of heavy industries asked the NGT that its orders were in "contravention" of the motor vehicle act.
The NGT had in July last year, asked Delhi's transport authorities to cancel registration of diesel-fueled vehicles that were older than 10 years.
The order was passed after a lawyer filed a petition in wake of poor air quality in the national capital because of the vehicular emissions.
