Modi mimics Rahul Gandhi, says central funds for Chhattisgarh 'are the people's money'

Mimicking Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, on Friday, once again questioned the Congress over its repeated claim that it had sanctioned Rs.10,000 crores for the development of Chhattisgarh, and thundered that the money that it was talking about, was the money of the people of India and not the largesse of the Congress leaders, or any other party.

"Shehzada (Prince) comes here and says we gave 10,000 crores to the state. I want to ask the Shehzada (Rahul Gandhi), did the money come from his 'Mama's (uncle's) house?" he asked while addressing a rally here today.

"I want to tell my Congress leaders, that this money does not belong to any party or government, this money is of the people of this country,' he added.

He also expressed confidence about the BJP winning the assembly elections for the third consecutive time in the state.

"I am confident that we will be forming the government in Chhattisgarh for a third time," she said while addressing a rally here today.

Modi further said that the Congress Party is keeping people in the dark by not declaring their party chief ministerial candidate in the state.

"Has Congress even declared the name of their chief ministerial candidate in Chhattisgarh? People of Chhattisgarh have the right to know the name of the Congress chief ministerial candidate. They are misleading the people, and asking for votes. Can you really trust the Congress party, which betrayed you?" he questioned.

He also ridiculed Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for claiming that the Centre has provided sufficient financial assistance to the state.

Chhattisgarh, which witnessed a voter turnout of 67 percent in its first phase on Monday, will go into its second phase of polls on November 19, for the remaining 72 constituencies.
