England captain Alastair Cook has confirmed that Moeen Ali will open the innings with the captain in the warm-up game against Sri Lanka A team ahead of the one-day series between the countries.

Cook stated that it was an incredibly hard call on Alex Hales, who debuted in series defeat against India, as they wanted to have another bowler in the team. However, he also said that final decision on the batting line-up has not been decided, the BBC reported.

Coach Peter Moores has further said that Alex has progressed quickly and has a lot of explosive talent in him.
