Moyes writes off Man U's Champions League winning chances

Manchester United manager David Moyes has urged the club's fans to keep the faith after a defeat to West Brom that saw a section of the crowd very angry, and said that doing well in the Champions League is a distant possibility.

According to the Mirror, Morgan Amalfitano took the lead first with a great goal and Saido Berahino later scored after the equaliser to give the Baggies their first win on United soil in 35 years.

United's third defeat in six games makes it their worst start to a season since 1989, and leaves the Premier League champions slumped in mid-table, three points above the relegation zone, the report said.

However, Moyes told the fans to support their team and the club, as in football, there was no guarantee that games would be won every time.

He said that it was a great club with a great team and the fans can be sure that they would do everything to put it right.

Moyes and United head to Ukraine to take on Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League this week, the report added.

Moyes has already warned that the squad he inherited from Sir Alex Ferguson might be the reigning champions of England but aren't good enough to conquer Europe, the report further said.

He said that to win the Champions League, one needs to have five or six world-class players and if one looked at Bayern Munich, they had that quality.
