Myanmar sets historic November 8 general election date

Myanmar has set its historic general election date as November 8. The country will go to polls for the first time in 25 years, a senior official has said.
According to the BBC, the date will be formally announced later in the day, the official said.
The ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) will for the first time go head to head with Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy.
