Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has revealed that he got frightened when a bouncer delivery of pace bowler Mitchell Johnson hit Indian stand-in skipper Virat Kohli's helmet on the third day of the first Test match in Adelaide.

Lyon stated that his heart skipped a beat particularly for the players, who played for New South Wales when late cricketer Phillip Hughes was hit by a bouncer delivery on the neck.

Lyon said that he went to everyone to ask if they were doing okay, adding that they all reached towards Virat Kohli immediately after the bowl hit on his helmet, Sport24 reported.

In addition, Lyon believes that one of the positives to emerge out of the incident was the fact that the helmets actually do work, indicating that it could boost confidence of bowlers to bowl bouncers again.

Virat Kohli went on to score a fighting 115 as India amassed 369 for the loss of five wickets at the close of the third day's play.
