Nawaz will be responsible if 'third-force' steps in: Imran on Islamabad lockdown

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be held accountable if a "third-force" comes into power as a result of his upcoming lockdown of Islamabad on November 2.

While referring to Sharif, Imran said that one person will be responsible if democracy is derailed. However, he did not tell who the 'third force' is, but the statement seemed that he is referring to the military establishment, reports the Express Tribune.

Imran, who was addressing media personnel outside his Bani Gala residence, accused the government of defaming the Pakistan Army on the pretext of PTI's protest.

The PTI chief said, "In a democratic country, the Prime Minister is accountable to the people. However, Nawaz only wants to save his wealth."

Imran claimed that Panama Papers are not accusations but evidence of the Prime Minister's corruption.

Taking a swipe at Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Imran stated that those who call themselves opposition are defending Nawaz to save their own faces.

Speaking on the hearing of Panamagate scandal in the Supreme Court on November 1, the PTI chief said while the apex court may sentence the Prime Minister, the party is only asking for Nawaz's resignation so that a fair investigation could be carried out.

Stating that protest is their democratic right, he warned the government and said the ruling dispensation will have to face severe consequences in the future if it tries to stop them.

Earlier on Saturday, the PTI won an 'unconditional support' of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) for its November 2 sit-in in capital Islamabad.
