New Zealand await ICC clarification on Lyon's DRS escape

New Zealand cricket have contacted the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is waiting for an acceptable response over the TV umpire's decision that went against them during the historic day and night Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval.

TV umpire Nigel Llong had turned down a Decision Review System (DRS) referral for a catch of Australian cricketer Nathan Lyon on the second day of the pink ball Test.

As a result of the DRS escape, Lyon with Peter Nevill stitched 74-run ninth-wicket partnership to give the Australians a 22-run first innings lead.

Confirming the news, Hesson revealed that the team management have submitted an official representation to the ICC and now they are waiting for the response, Sport24 reported.

Meanwhile, ICC chief executive David Richardson backed Llong, saying that he is sure the TV umpire had followed a correct process.

Richardson further insisted that the decisions are taken based on umpire's judgement and there is no guarantee in which way it is going to go .

Earlier, Australia had clinched the three-match series against New Zealand after claiming a tense three-wicket win over the tourists in the pink ball Test match at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday.
