India on Thursday reiterated that there is no blockade from the Indian side in the Himalayan nation and efforts are continously being made to send maximum supplies to Nepal.

Briefing media here this evening, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that around four to six hundred commercial cargo vehicles are moving daily to Nepal, insisting that the problem in Nepal is political in nature and has to have a political solution.

The supply of freight trucks into Nepal has been hit ever since the Madhesi plains' people launched widespread protests over the constitution, which they say deprives them of adequate representation.

India has urged that the Madhesi and Janjati who live on the districts bordering India and comprise over half the population be given adequate representation in the constitution.

Replying to a query over the situation in Maldives where emergency has been imposed, he said that India was closely monitoring the situation and every development in that country.
