A day after Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leader Omar Abdullah met Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee to discuss the possibility of forming an alliance for 2019 general elections, the Minister of State (MoS) in the Prime Minister's Office, Jitendra Singh, said no front can stand in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"No front can stand in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This grand alliance is just a symbol of the desperation of those people who are unable to get people to vote for them. They are only united by hatred," he said on Saturday.

On July 27, Mamata pitched for an alliance of opposition parties to take on Prime Minister Modi-led government in the 2019 polls. Abdullah, after meeting the TMC chief echoed the same and said they both discussed as to how best can regional parties come together to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Meanwhile, talking on the Kashmir issue, Singh said Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) essentially belongs to India which the country will take it back.

"Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. A piece of ours is illegally under Pakistan's control and we will take it back and make Jammu and Kashmir complete the way Maharaja Hari Singh had left for us," he said.

The minister has been critical of politicians and separatists for playing politics over the issue of Kashmir.
