One Direction band members have reportedly revealed that they sounded "too English" for their record company bosses who encouraged them to sound American in their songs, which they admit is better for the pop genre.
Band member Liam Payne, who had an old Wolverhampton accent when he auditioned on X Factor admitted that singing in the British accent is "hard and sometimes a bit forced" and 19-year old Louis Tomlinson believes that "British accents don't sound right in pop music", the Mirror reported.
Harry Styles revealed his "theory", blaming listening to American artists while growing up as the reason behind the idea of singing and the demand for Yankee accents in songs.
