Australian paceman James Pattinson, who is recovering from a stress fracture in his back, is in no hurry to join the national team as he continues to fiddle with faint but career-saving changes to his bowling action.

Pattinson is reportedly quite happy to regain his pace and fitness in grade cricket and then the Victorian Sheffield Shield team before worrying about national duties.

Pattinson is recovering from a stress fracture in his back and is hoping that a modified bowling action would help overcome the problems so that he can play at the top level for another decade, News.com.au reported.

The 24-year-old has been on a long rehabilitation and training program and has just returned to what he describes as some light bowling aimed at perfecting the change in his action so it becomes second nature to him as he prepares for the start of the Sheffield Shield season.

Pattinson said that he is not in any rush because they have not got a lot of cricket on for a while, adding that there is no point in him bowling currently, five months before he starts playing.

The paceman added that he is not trying to get his hopes up too much and he is just trying to get his body right and then change a few things in his action.

Pattinson also said that he had tried to change little bits and pieces of his action when he got hurt in England last year in an attempt to stop placing so much stress on his back.

The Australian added that he just wants to get to that 26 or 27 years of age where his bones have hardened up and he is right to keep going by then when he is at his peak.
