Pak FIA fails to collect 'concrete evidence' against Musharraf in high treason case

The Pakistan Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) inquiry committee has failed to collect concrete evidence against former President General Pervez Musharraf in high treason case.

An FIA investigation officer has said that they could not collect solid evidences against Musharraf due to the non-cooperation of several officials during the investigation, nut admitted that the team had no power to compel them in this regard, the Daily Times reports.

He said that they have recorded the statements of many officials, directly or indirectly involved in the promulgation of November 3, 2007 emergency, but they need special court's assistance to get solid evidences in high treason case.

They are going to file a brief complaint against the former army chief, he added.

They also said that the defence secretary has not provided details of the meeting of core commanders of Pakistan Army, in which the 2007 emergency was approved, despite of three reminders.

However, Attorney General of Pakistan Muneer A Malik claimed on Wednesday that investigators have solid evidence against Musharraf in the high treason case and he might face capital punishment or life imprisonment.
