Pakistan summoned Indian deputy high commissioner here on Wednesday and lodged a protest over the killing of a soldier in alleged 'unprovoked firing' by India at the Line of Control.
"The Indian deputy high commissioner was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Director General (South Asia & SAARC) and a protest was lodged over the latest unprovoked ceasefire violations by India at the LoC in which a Pakistan Army soldier embraced shahadat on 15 September 2015 and a civilian got injured in Rawalakot today (16 September)," read a statement issued by the Pakistan Foreign Office.
The latest cross-border shelling took place just days after Pakistani and Indian border officials agreed to revive a 2003 cease-fire.
The recent Director General-level meeting between Pakistan Rangers and Border Security Force had decided to completely ban firing of mortar shells along the border and LoC in Jammu and Kashmir which resulted in the killing of several civilians.
