PCB chief concerned over team's safety in India

After the BCCI's informal invitation to Pakistan to come and play a limited over series in India, PCB chief Shahryar Khan has expressed his concern over the safety of the Pakistani players, and said that he will not compromise on that front.

According to the Dawn, Khan said that he found it 'very disturbing' that the BCCI wants them to travel to India for their home series amidst the present atmosphere when any Pakistani who was travelling to India was being threatened by Shiv Sena or some other right wing group.

He insisted that BCCI president Shashank Manohar, during a telephonic conversation, had clarified that the matches would be hosted in cities where there were no security concerns.

However, he said that according to the initial agreement the series was scheduled to take place in UAE and the Pakistani board would abide by that only.

Khan also said that the Indian cricket board has offered to discuss the possibility of compensating them for any financial losses.

According to reports, the BCCI has proposed a series of three ODI's and two T20's between December 15 and January 7 to be played in India.

According to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the PCB and BCCI, both countries are scheduled to play six series between 2015 and 2023 after a clearance from the Indian Government.

India have not played a full bilateral Test series with Pakistan after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
