Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has warned that the club's ambitions to sign big name English stars would be impacted because of their battle with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

City's critics have reportedly pointed out that Pellegrini's squad is dominated by foreign players with only England keeper Joe Hart being a regular with the team, while other English players such as James Milner, who mainly makes an appearance off the substitutes bench, Micah Richards, Joleon Lescott and Jack Rodweel have been left in the shadows.

However, Pellegrini said that it is not easy to buy important English players who are in the England squad, adding that if he wants to buy a player from Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal or Chelsea, he does not know how much that would cost and is not sure if the teams would sell them, the Daily Express reported.

Pellegrini said that the British players are priced very high and the English football now has the FFP rules, which make it more difficult to pay more money for the high quality English player City would need.

City are currently facing a 50 million-pound fine for violating debt limits imposed by FFP rules, the report added.
