PM concerned about capitalists and not consumers: NCP

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday trained its guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his UK visit, saying he was concerned only about capitalists and not about consumers.

"You (Modi) are only concerned with capitalists, you are not concerned with the consumers, with the people down below. That is how Bihar taught you (Modi) a lesson," NCP leader Majeed Memon told ANI in Mumbai.

Memon further said that the Prime Minister has often been outside the country even during the Parliament session, which is regrettable," he added.

"The House is the supreme place, which reflects the will of the people. If you do not care for the will of the people, then you will have to face situations like Bihar and Delhi. I wish that the Prime Minister gives due importance to Parliament," he said.

Meanwhile, Janata Dal (United) leader K.C. Tyagi slammed Prime Minister Modi, saying that there has been no investment outcome from any of his foreign visits.

"He is known in his foreign visits with his clothes and selfies. Modi ji is now not known for increasing investment," he told ANI in Delhi.

Congress leader P.C. Chacko also sang the same tune and said that the Prime Minister's foreign trips are always nowadays only publicity and no diplomatic success has ever been noticed in any of his foreign trips.

"It is good that the Prime Minister is going to U.K and if he is able to address issues, it's good," he added.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Manoj Jha said that Prime Minister Modi should not speak low of his predecessors and should not deny the past of India.

"I think this time he should not repeat his habit of speaking low of what happened before him. That shall be a tribute to the kind of nation we are," he added.

Prime Minister Modi today departed for his three-day visit to United Kingdom, where issues in focus will be defence and security cooperation, terrorism, economic reforms and boosting investment. He will also pay homage at Mahatma Gandhi's statue near the British Parliament, address it and the Indian Diaspora at the Wembley Stadium.

External Affair Minister Sushma Swaraj was present at the Indira Gandhi International airport to see off the Prime Minister and was seen having a lengthy discussion with him before he left.
