PM Modi arrives in New Delhi after G20 summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here on Sunday night after attending the G20 summit hosted by Argentina in its capital Buenos Aires.

Making several bilateral engagements during his three-day visit to Argentina with the world leaders on the sidelines of the summit, the Prime Minister initiated his visit by attending a yoga ceremony in the Argentinan capital and then paying a visit to Argentine President Mauricio Macri at his Presidential office.

Prime Minister Modi met Saudi Crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud on the first day of his visit to Buenos Aires on November 30 and discussed on stabilising fuel prices in the country. Subsequently, he also met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and focused on the upcoming COP24 climate summit in Poland.

Speaking at the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) Leaders' Informal Meeting at the sidelines of G20, Prime Minister Modi asserted that people involved in financial crimes are a big threat and called on the world leaders to work together to curb out black money.

Prime Minister Modi also met Chinese Premier Xi Jinping and stated that the year 2018 is of utmost important for the bilateral relations of the two countries.

Addressing the media ahead of the first-ever trilateral meet between Japan, United States and India on the sidelines of the G20 summit, Prime Minister Modi expressed delight over the prospects of working with India's "strategic partners", saying that both US President Donald Trump and his Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are his "good friends". The Prime Minister also coined the interesting term 'JAI' for the newly formed Japan-India-United States of America partnership to promote peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

He also met the leaders of European Union and European Council, along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and French President Emmanuel Macron, and discussed issues of international and mutual interests, including ways to enhance the strategic ties, countering terrorism and climate change.

At the end of the summit, Prime Minister Modi also confirmed that India will host the G20 summit in the year 2022 when it completes 75 years of independence.
