Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed his gratitude to U.S. President Barrack Obama for his touching and inspiring words in a written profile that has appeared in the Time Magazine.
"Dear @BarackObama your words are touching and inspiring. Thanks @TIME," the Indian leader said in a tweet.
The article titled 'India's reformer-in-chief' written by the U.S. President refers to the Indian Prime Minister's life story 'from poverty to Prime Minister' as one that resonates of dynamism and potential of India's rise.
"Determined to help more Indians follow in his path, he's (Modi) laid out an ambitious vision to reduce extreme poverty, improve education, empower women and girls and unleash India's true economic potential while confronting climate change," said President Obama.
He further stated, "Like India, he (Modi) transcends the ancient and the modern-a devotee of yoga who connects with Indian citizens on Twitter and imagines a "Digital India."
Recalling Prime Minister Modi's visit to Washington in September 2014, President Obama said that their visit to the memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. allowed both to reflect "on the teachings of King and Gandhi and how the diversity of backgrounds and faiths in our countries is a strength we have to protect."
He concluded his article by saying that, "Prime Minister Modi recognizes that more than one billion Indians living and succeeding together can be an inspiring model for the world.
