Days after nine people were killed in a shootout between rival biker gangs in the city of Waco, Texas; police has revealed that the incident took place after a meeting of biker gangs went awry as an uninvited gang showed up.
Waco police Sergeant W Patrick Swanton said that a coalition of bikers made of multiple groups had been invited to the Twin Peaks restaurant for a meeting, but violence erupted after a disturbance was noticed in the parking lot, which police thought was over a parking issue, and one biker "had his foot run over," reported Sky News.
There were about 200 gang members inside the restaurant at the time, authorities said.
About 170 bikers have been arrested, charged with engaging in organised crime, and are being held on one million dollar bond.
While Swanton refused to identify the gangs that were involved in the gun battle, those arrested afterwards were seen wearing leather vests of the Bandidos or Cossacks.
