Suspected terrorists opened fire on a police post in Sopore in north Kashmir district on Tuesday, killing a policeman and injuring another.

According to reports, Fayaz Ahmad of IRP 13 Battalion was performing his duty at a shrine in Tujjar Shareef area of Sopore when suspected militants fired shots at him.

Both the injured policemen were taken to the Sopore hospital where a policeman succumbed to his injuries.

This is the second attack on a police post in Jammu and Kashmir this month. On August 6, a group of heavily armed terrorists attacked on Chanj police post in Udhampur, leaving two Special Police Officers injured.
