President Pranab Mukherjee, as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has accepted the resignation of Raosaheb Dadarao Danve, Minister of State in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, from the Council of Ministers, with immediate effect.
Danve, 59, who was made Maharasthra BJP president a few months back, resigned from the Council of Ministers over the principle of 'one-man, one-post' on Thursday.
Danve submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who accepted it and forwarded it to President Pranab Mukherjee.
Danve replaces Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as the president of the state BJP unit.
A four-time member of Lok Sabha from Jalna in the Marathwada region, Danve has risen through the ranks after entering politics at the panchayat level.
He has said he will concentrate on party affairs in the state.
