Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is likely to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the 69th United Nations General Assembly session in New York later this month.
The Sri Lankan President is scheduled to address the General Assembly on September 25, while Prime Minister Modi will address it on September 27, reports the LankaPage web site.
President Rajapaksa is reportedly keen to meet Prime Minister Modi in the wake of the latter's recent meeting with Sri Lanka's main Tamil party, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) in New Delhi.
It may be recalled that during that meeting with the TNA leadership, Prime Minister Modi had called on Sri Lanka to "engage constructively" to find a political solution that builds upon the 13th Amendment of the Sri Lankan Constitution, to the Tamil issue and to resume dialogue.
