South Africa has already lost a wicket as they went in to bat on the second day of the second Test after the visitors' bowlers knocked out Sri Lanka for an overall score of 421 in a total of 121 overs and three balls at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.
At the time of the filing of this report South Africa had scored five runs in five overs at the loss of Alviro Petersen's wicket. Petersen was balled and caught by slow arm orthodox bowler Rangana Herath for an individual score of two.
Currently Dean Elgar and Faf du Plessis are batting at an individual score of one each.
For the host side, former skipper Mahela Jayawardene was run out by Alviro Petersen at the individual score of 165. Jayawardene's unbeaten 140 on day one had helped Sri Lanka close the day one on an overall team score of 305.
Quinton de Kock caught Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathew for his individual score of 63 on J P Duminy's bowl. Fast bowler Morne Morkel also claimed a wicket as Kithuruwan Vithanage was caught by A B de Villiers on his ball for an individual score of 13 runs.
Sri Lanka's Niroshan Dickwella was run out by De Kock at 72 while South African skipper Hashim Amla caught Dilruwan Perera on Imran Tahir's bowl for an individual score of 12 runs.
The hosts' Ajantha Mendis and Suranga Lakmal were caught by De Kock for individual scores of two and four respectively. Both the players were snared by Vernon Philander.
Herath remained unbeatable at an individual score of seven for the host side.
