Proteas likely to play day-night Test against Australia

Australia's plan to host South Africa for a day-night Test seems to have been fulfilled, as the Proteas have reportedly changed their stance and have agreed to play a pink ball match at Adelaide Oval later this year.

According to news.com.au, the Cricket Australia said they are optimistic that the Adelaide match against South Africa would be played as twilight Test.

The inaugural day-night Test took place between Australia and New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval last year, which went on to pull record number of crowds and huge television viewership.

Reflecting on the same, the CA admitted that the anticipation to hold a pink ball Test in the market is huge, especially after the massive success of inaugural match.

Meanwhile, CA chief executive James Sutherland had earlier expressed his confidence on the same, saying he was optimistic that South Africa would agree to the revolutionary timeslot.

Earlier in April, the South African players had shown their reluctance to the idea, with the Proteas Players' Association saying that their players might face disadvantage on account of having not played a day-night Test at any level.

According to the initial schedule, the third Test of the three-match series between Australia and South Africa in Adelaide starting from November 24 is intended to be a pink ball game in contrast to the series-opener against Pakistan in Brisbane from December 15.
