South Africa thrashed New Zealand by 72 runs in the second ODI at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui to take an unbeatable 2-0 series lead.

According to Stuff.co.nz, South Africa's 282-9 was plenty for a 72-run win in the second ODI.

The Proteas managed to get New Zealand all out at 210 in the 47th over.

Luke Ronchi scored 79 off 83 balls to help New Zealand reach a decent score.

He and Mitchell McClenaghan (34 not out) added 76 for the last wicket, breaking Ronchi and Trent Boult's New Zealand record of 74 set three days previous, the report said.
