Congress president Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday, said that just as her father Rajiv Gandhi was a visionary, her brother and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has the same qualities.

"He (Rajiv Gandhi) was a man people used to instantly relate to with love because of his gentleness. His other plus point was that he was a visionary. If he (Rajiv Gandhi) has done any development work, then that was not limited to one particular area, in fact, the spillover effect of development could be seen in near-by areas. When he introduced projects, he had to face a lot of criticism from the very same people who are now lampooning Rahul Gandhi. These benefits for the people of India and Amethi cannot be removed," Priyanka said in a public meeting in Amethi.

Priyanka listed a host development works that were initiated by Rahul Gandhi.

"Just like my father, Rahul Gandhi came ten years back here, but see how much development work he has done. He has brought a White Revolution here. His initiative has led to truck-loads of milk being sent to Amul factories. In terms of education, he has ensured that insititutes are built on the lines of those existing in Manipal. He has ensured that roads are built and connected this place with a number of trains. Through the mega food park, a number of people, including farmers, have benefitted. The local economy has benefitted. He has not done this because he is doing politics, he has done all of these works to help you," Priyanka added.

Priyanka added that the love of the people keeps bringing her back to Amethi. "It is your love that brings me to stand in front of you. Nothing is bigger than people of Amethi for all of us.
