Rahul Gandhi visited ex-serviceman's residence only for political benefit: Azam Khan

Retorting to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi visiting residence of ex-servicemen Ram Kishan Grewal who committed suicide over OROP issue, Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Azam Khan on Thursday said that the latter went to Bhiwani for political benefit.

When asked to comment on the beeline made by the political fraternity including Rahul Gandhi, Khan shrugged off the developments saying, "It's simply a policy matter, after all they do need some political benefits."

Khan also took the occasion to react on encounter of SIMI activist in Bhopal and said asserted that anybody involved in terrorist activities should not be spared.

"We should kill all the people involved in any kind of terror activity, be it SIMI terrorists or anyone else," he said.

Grewal consumed poison on Tuesday. However, the cause behind his suicide is yet to be ascertained.

The 69-year-old former jawan was protesting over the OROP issue at Jantar Mantar in Delhi when he committed suicide on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day mortal remains of Ram Kishan, who committed suicide over the OROP issue were consigned to flames as his last rites were perfumed at his native village here.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi along with other party leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kamal Nath, Kiran Choudhry and Shailaja attended the cremation. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was also present during the last rites of Ram Kishan.
