A rare bottle of Lowenbrau lager, which survived the Hindenburg airship disaster in 1937, is set to be sold at an auction.

The beer, which has a scorched label with the top foil burned away, was saved by a fireman, Leroy Smith, who found six unopened bottles at the scene, which he secretly buried and later retrieved, the Daily Express reported.

British airship fanatic, David Kirch is now selling the bottle, along with 595 other items and the entire lot is expected to fetch 1 million pounds.

The lager is expected to rake in 6,000 pounds at the auction.
