Revised MeT reports suggest dip in monsoon rainfall in India

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said the department has updated its monsoon forecast suggesting a dip in the monsoon fall to 88 percent from 93 percent as predicted earlier.

"The meteorological department has updated its monsoon forecast. You all know that during the month of April on 22nd, we had issued a monsoon forecast. We always issue it in the month of June by taking into account the latest global, regional and local parameters which are important for monsoon and by taking every parameter, whether it is in Pacific Ocean or Indian Ocean or the Atlantic Ocean in Europe, everything, the updated forecast says that the long range monsoon is likely to be 88 percent normal with a modal four percent of plus-minus. It is likely to commence around 5th June," IMD Director, B.P.Yadav told the media here.

Light showers were witnessed in the national capital on Monday with the minimum temperature at 25.9 degrees Celsius.
