At least five people were killed and eight others injured in a roadside blast that took place in Quetta's Sariab Mill area on Wednesday.
The Dawn quoted security sources as saying that a roadside bomb exploded when a police vehicle, carrying 35 police personnel, passed on Quetta-Sibbi road.
Civil Hospital Quetta Spokesperson Wasim Baig confirmed the casualties, saying that five people lost their lives while at least eight injured have been brought to the medical facility where emergency has been imposed.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and are investigating the explosion.
