England striker Wayne Rooney indulged in a Twitter rant against the British press for reporting his bid to regain fitness while on a family holiday in Portugal.

The Manchester United striker is in Portugal with his wife Coleen and two sons, as well as a couple of fitness experts.

He is making a bid to recover from a groin strain that saw him miss the final three matches of the Premiership season.

According to news.com.au, using his Twitter handle, Rooney described the English press as "disgusting" for following him and his family to Portugal.
