A Kolkata court yesterday extended the judicial remand of suspended Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh, Saradha group chairman Sudipta Sen and his close associate Debjani Mukherjee in cases related to the Saradha scam.
Passing the order, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Arvind Mishra said the judicial remand of the trio has been extended till January 11 next year
The counsel for the accused expressed opposition when the CBI said that it was ready to initiate trial in cases related to the Saradha scam.
The counsel cited the CBI's earlier deposition in court that the probe into the Saradha scam is ongoing and said that the trial could not be conducted unless the investigation is complete. The CBI had taken over the investigation in June, 2014, following the Supreme Court's orders.
