The Supreme Court on Monday imposed a pollution surcharge of Rs.700 and Rs.1300 on light and heavy commercial vehicles entering Delhi.
The order will be applicable from November 1, 2015 till February 29, 2016 on an experimental basis.
The fees collected would be handed over to the Delhi government for augmenting the public transport system and improving roads, particularly for most vulnerable users, namely cyclists and pedestrians.
