The historic African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina, where nine people were shot dead by a white gunman, is set to reopen for services today.

Members of Emanuel AME church had met on Saturday in the room where the attack took place. Many more are expected to attend the service in the morning, reported the BBC.

A member who attended Saturday's meeting said that the church will be open to all on Sunday.

Six women and three men, including the pastor, were killed in the attack after a white gunman opened fire during a Bible study meeting. The 21-year-old suspect, Dylann Roof, attended the meeting for a full hour before firing.

He was arrested during a traffic stop in Shelby, North Carolina. After appearing in court on Thursday, Roof waived his right to extradition and was flown back to South Carolina.
