The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Thursday delivered a major setback to the Janata Pariwar by quitting it, ahead of polls in Bihar.

"SP Parliamentary Board has decided to contest the Bihar elections independently," Ram Gopal Yadav, told the media here.

"If need be, we will speak to some other parties for support, but that is not on the table as of now," he added.

He further mentioned that the party was annoyed over not being consulted on the seat sharing strategy.

"We got the reports of seat sharing from television," Ram Gopal added.
