Former Australian captain Steve Waugh has warned Australian fans that the once world champions may never again dominate the world and regain the 'glory days' as they did under his, Mark Taylor's and Ricky Ponting's captaincies.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, although Australia has showed some promise despite being outplayed by England in the current Ashes series, Waugh believed that the history was against 'freakish' eras being repeated.

Stating that the team may never again regain their glory days, Waugh said that given that West Indies ten years had dominated before Australia after which his former side also did, he thinks that no other Australian team can do that again as players will be split up with the three forms of the game.

According to Waugh, it is hard to be consistent across all the forms, adding that the players will be tired mentally if they are playing all three forms.

Waugh, who has just launched his book The Meaning of Luck, also insisted that the selectors needed to be patient and show faith in Michael Clarke's men, adding that even he did not score a century until his 26th Test and was not even a part of a win until his 13th Test.

Waugh further said that people should not forget that no one cannot be successful right away, for which he urged them to give the current England touring squad a leeway.
